Cherry Mobile Titan and Titan TV to Receive Jelly Bean Update on 4/15

The folks at Cherry Mobile just gave everyone what they were asking for from the getgo: A Cherry Mobile Titan Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. But—as the late Billy Mays would say—wait, there’s more! The BIG TIME phone, the Cherry Mobile Titan TV, would also get the Jelly Bean treatment. That’s right, two Jelly Bean updates for two titanic phones!

Both devices’ updates would start rolling out on April 15, 2013, that’s just a few days from now. We’re really not sure if it’s going to be the service center way of update, or OTA. Based from experience though, we should expect the former.

It’s safe to say that all Cherry Mobile Titan and Titan TV in the coming weeks would already be on Jelly Bean, unless they’re very old stocks (which I doubt).

The Titan is still a powerful smartphone, so if you’re interested in having one we have a Cherry Mobile Titan review right here.

Cloudfone Excite 400d Surfaces, Cheapest 4.1 Jelly Bean Device in PH

A couple of months ago Cloudfone made waves with their Cloudfone Thrill 430x Android: It had and still has the biggest battery capacity in the local market. Now they’re making waves again with their latest entry in the market, the most affordable Jelly Bean device locally, the Cloudfone Excite 400d.

The Cloudfone Excite 400d is nothing revolutionary in terms of hardware: It sports the nowadays ordinary 1GHz dual-core MTK 6577 processor, 512MB RAM, and a 4-inch IPS display. Surprisingly, it comes loaded with—you guessed it—Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device also comes with a gimmick: Interchangeable back panels (which is of course always welcome since something is better than nothing).

The Cloudfone Excite 400d at first impressions feel solid and reliable. It could even remind you of a Samsung phone when looked at from behind. Definitely a worthy contender in the entry-level Android market.

Cloudfone Excite 400d Availability and Price in the Philippines

The Cloudfone Excite 400d is currently available in Metro Manila only, but will slowly roll out nationwide. Its SRP is pegged at P4,499.00. Truly the most affordable Jelly Bean device out there.

Alcatel, one of the longest running global mobile brands, is celebrating their 20th anniversary in the market this year. And what better way to celebrate their anniversary than to flaunt their latest devices in the Philippines!

Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra

The Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra is one of the world’s thinnest mobile devices. It’s apparently also a hot item today since it appeared in the movie Iron Man 3.

Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD

The Scribe HD is Alcatel’s answer to the current market’s phablets. Personally for me it’s their answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note II (it has S Note-ish features, sans the built-in S Pen), and cheaper too. It’s also the company’s only quad-core device that appeared in this launch.

Other devices launched in the event include the One Touch Scribe Easy, the Glory 2, the Inspire 2, the Sapphire 2, and the One Touch Tab 7 HD.

With everything that we saw in this event considered, Alcatel is definitely doing things right: They’re producing quality devices at very competitive prices (their most  expensive device is hovering at the P15k mark; other local brands with the same specs but with lower build quality more or less sport the same price) and has promised to consistently keep their products’ quality.
